Without the proper protection, dehumidifier coils can often degrade faster than the rest of the system.

Dehumidifier Corporation of America (DCA), a U.S.-based manufacturer of commercial and industrial dehumidification systems, has introduced ElectroFin® coil coatings as a no-cost standard option on all of its dehumidifier coils.

"Two of the most expensive components of a dehumidifier are the refrigeration coils and the freon compressor," says Gary Metzger, owner of Dehumidifier Corporation of America. "The most effective way to preserve coil and compressor life is the addition of ElectroFin® coil coatings when the coil is manufactured. Unlike our competitors, we offer this coating as standard — it's quality from the start. Customers can protect their assets from the beginning, and they get an above-industry-standard warranty."

Many dehumidifier applications involve controlling moisture in indoor swimming pool rooms, which are considered harsh environments due to added pool water disinfectants like chlorine and bromine. Dehumidifiers control the evaporating moisture from the surface of the pool to protect the integrity of the room's structure. But the evaporator coils of the dehumidifier are also susceptible to premature breakdown.

Constructed from thin aluminum sheets and copper tubing, evaporator coils transfer temperature from the freon in the copper tubing to the air in the coil. Uncoated aluminum fins can corrode over time, reducing moisture removal efficiencies and pushing the compressor to work harder.

DCA offers a standard warranty of five years on refrigeration coils and compressors, three years on all other parts, and one year on controls. To develop its product offerings, DCA has worked with Honeywell, LEESON®, Warren Technology, and other companies.
